You found your way on to my blog no doubt because you are looking to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way?

Am I right?

If so, you may want to consider incorporating yoga and mindfulness into your routine. Both of these practices can help you live a healthier life overall, which will undoubtedly lead to weight loss.

In this weeks Wellness 4 Women Show, there was a take over! We were joined by Leah Hyne of Lakora Yoga.

Leah started off by giving us an overview on what yoga is and then led us in a practice. Catch the replay today HERE.

I have dabbled with yoga for years. Attended classes, bought DVDs and attempted to do my own little practices and to be honest I thought I was pretty clued up on it. After five minutes of listening to Leah though and how clearly she explained how yoga connects to mind, body and soul and I realised there is more I need to learn.

I talk all the time about the importance of getting in touch with your mind, body and soul for lasting weight loss and the way Leah explains yoga aligns perfectly with this.

She explains how we can be present in the moment and not think about the past or future. This can be a really effective way to help reduce stress and opens the door for other mindfulness activities.

I was especially interested to learn that what you tend to have going on in your life shows up on the mat and vice versa. E.g. if you are feeling out of balance you may struggle with balancing poses but if you do balancing poses you can find more balance in your life.

Yoga is definitely something I’ve been wanting to incorporate more into my life and I hope after reading this post, you will too!

There is also no doubt yoga can be really beneficial for weight loss. It’s a great way to get in shape offering a total body workout that releases energy and tones muscles.

Yoga also helps to reduce stress, which can lead to weight gain as well as so many other health benefits. The mindfulness that comes from being more in the moment can filter through in general to life and can help you make more serving choices when it comes to food and being in touch with your body's energy needs.

Finally, practising yoga regularly can help you develop a healthy relationship with your body as you get more in touch with how it feels to move and be in your body.

It is so easy and cheap to start practising yoga, you don’t even need a mat or special clothes as Leah explains. We often think we have to spend a ton of money on going to a gym and special equipment but that’s not the case and there are so many affordable options you can do from home.

The great thing about yoga and especially from home is that you don’t need vast amounts of time either and you can insert it into even the busiest of schedules. Leah confirms you can practice for 5 minutes or 2 hours the choice is yours!

If you want to give yoga a go for yourself, Leah has kindly dropped a couple of free taster offers into the group under the video so make sure you take advantage of those and check her out on socials!

One thing our brains love to do is put up barriers. Starting yoga and building a consistent practice will take a bit of time and patience. You can’t expect to buy a mat and turn into a yogi overnight. This is where life coaching can help not only with yoga but any goals you want to achieve in your life as can help you to overcome those barriers so you can live a healthier and happier life.

Let’s get you started today!
