It seems like every day a new diet is being touted as the next best thing, but they all seem to involve counting, eating specific foods, or cutting out entire food groups.

It can be so draining and time-consuming, constantly trying to balance the weight loss books hoping that you nail it and the scale praises you at the end of the week.

It can then be frustrating when you then don't then see results.

And then come the other emotions.

The guilt because you didn't stick to plan.

The shame because the scale didn't move and therefore you must have done something wrong or been bad.

“It was that cupcake that did it! I knew I shouldn't have that cupcake!”

The life of a traditional dieter is a series of ‘shoulds’, ‘musts’, and ‘have to's’ and that is why weight loss feels hard!

If weight loss feels hard you will struggle to gain momentum because you will constantly be in a diet cycle constantly hustling for the next 1lb loss?

What if you didn't have to hustle anymore. What if losing weight could feel natural, easier, and become second nature.

Weight loss is not only possible but sustainable when done the right way. Intuitive style eating and life coaching can help you gather momentum in your weight loss journey while keeping your health and sanity intact. This power combo will help you develop a healthy relationship with food while providing the support you need to make long-term changes.

The bonus is no deprivation, starvation, or counting.

What is intuitive style eating, how does it help you lose weight and gain momentum?

Intuitive style eating is about listening to your body and honouring your hunger and fullness signals. It's about allowing yourself to eat the foods you love, in the amounts that feel good for you.

It's not about restriction or deprivation, and it definitely doesn't involve counting calories/points or eliminating!

Intuitive style eating is about making peace with food and ditching the diet mentality for good.

The key to success with intuitive style eating is learning how to listen to your body's hunger and satisfaction signals. This can be tricky at first if you've been dieting for a while, as dieting encourages you to ignore these natural cues and if I am honest you have likely screwed up your system after years of dieting but I can help you reset them all you have to do is trust the process and learn to trust your body and mind again like your body was designed.

It helps you gain momentum because you will quickly realise how much you have been overeating even when you have been dieting.

You take a traditional Slimming World member. You are told you can eat as much as you want as long as it is from a prescribed list. There are not many people I know who have not gorged so much bloody Muller Light that they could hold shares! Don't even get me started on the nastiness of Quark. But seriously just because you can eat it doesn't mean you should, is this really honouring what your body needs? What about syn saving? same deal if you are not eating it when your body is physically in need it is overeating and this will impact progress.

What about calorie counting, your body has differing needs per day depending on your expenditure. Even if you take the more sensible approach of a calorie range it can still be wildly out and people cling to the amounts meticulously counting. The problem is nobody can actually give you an accurate figure only a guess. Your body however can tell you.

Your body is like a car fuel tank at the end of the day, overfill it, it will spill out, keep it just right and it will keep going. Run it on empty it will cough and splutter and conk out.

How to find joy in the process

Finding joy in the process is the #1 key to sustainable weight loss. When you're focused on enjoying your food and finding pleasure in your diet, you're less likely to binge or fall off track. You're also more likely to stick with your healthy habits for the long haul.

When it comes to intuitive-style eating, there's no food off-limits. You do not need cheat days, meals, or weeks it is easy.

Finding joy in the process also can (although not essential) means finding ways to enjoy movement. Whether you love running, dancing, hiking or weight lifting, find an activity that brings you joy and stick with it. When you're having fun, you're less likely to stress about your diet or exercise routine.

When it comes to losing weight, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. The key is to find an approach that fits your lifestyle, personality, and body, so you can stick with it for the long haul.

Finding joy in the process also means listening to your mind & body and being kind and compassionate. If you're tired, stressed, or not feeling well, taking a calculated step back from your diet and exercise routine may be more advantageous than blustering through and quitting. This does not mean however eating what you want and going into f-it mode but you can have protocols for when you are high in energy and ones for when you are low so you can roll with how you are on the day. The point is you can create the rules and work with the system not trying to fit yourself in a pigeon-hole.

This gathers momentum also as it then feels easy. You are doing what you want, making your best decisions with the rational part of your brain in advance.

How does coaching help you lose weight, gather momentum, and keep it off?

Coaching provides you with support, accountability, and helps you find motivation if you need it to make lasting changes in your life.

With self-coaching, you work on figuring out the process that works for you, work through life's ups and downs and take control of your life and weight loss.

With a coach, you have your own personal cheerleader and guide, who helps you when you cannot see things yourself and someone cheering you on every step of the way!

Momentum gains and builds as you keep going. The only thing that will stop you from getting to your goal is quitting and when you make the process kind, compassionate and easy why would you want to!

A quick RECAP:

  • Listen to your mind, body, and soul.
  • Find joy in the process
  • Support yourself through self-coaching and get a coach if you can.
