Hello hello hello and welcome to Episode 80 of the Wellness 4 Womens Show. Finding Purpose Through Weight Loss.

Have you ever felt like life is passing you by, moving through the motions without a real sense of purpose? I know that feeling all too well. That was me, stuck in groundhog-day. A life on repeat feeling like something was missing but not really knowing what to do about it.

I felt trapped in routine, going through the motions of everyday life without any real passion or excitement. It seemed like I was merely existing, rather than truly living.

Every morning, I would wake up to the same alarm clock blaring in my ear, reluctantly dragging myself out of bed and into the shower. The days would blur together on autopilot. I yearned for something more; something that would ignite a spark within me and bring purpose back to my life.

But where do you even begin when you feel so lost?

When you have bought into the belief that 'This is JUST life!' and 'You JUST have to get on with it!' That you JUST have to 'suck it up buttercup as this is your lot'!

In the hustle of everyday life as well, it's easy to lose ourselves, to find ourselves yearning for something more, something more meaningful but yet what? and how the hell can I find the time to find it anyway whatever it is?

In a way I did not find purpose, purpose found me and it was from a place I least expected it. My weight loss journey.

Today, I want to talk to you about finding purpose and how I did it through weight loss and how you could too.

Losing Our Way

One of the things that are ingrained in all the teachings I have had in Life Coaching and Belief Coding®️ is that we are all born infinitely worthy and self-worth can link to purpose. So if we are born worthy and worth is connected to purpose how did we lose it along the way? How have we lost it to the point where we have impacted our mind, body and soul and compromised our overall wellness, such as, our eating and well-being habits?

It won't surprise you to hear if you have listened to the show that it comes from our beliefs. Those various external influences and internal struggles we had from a younger age, societal expectations and pressures. We may have not developed our own true inner voice or we may have lost it along the way through failures, rejections, or disappointments that chipped away at our self-worth.

Because that is the thing isn't it? Life has this uncanny way of throwing curveballs our way things that change our trajectory. Things that we dodge and swerve, things that hit us square in the face and things we embrace knowingly.

You can lose your way and purpose due to life events such as, becoming a parent, getting married, becoming an empty nester, a divorce, death in the family, a change in health, the uncharted waters of retirement or a new job. These moments can catch you off guard, leaving you feeling adrift and searching for meaning.

Maybe you are stuck right now, right at this very second at a crossroads, unsure of which path to take?

Maybe you feel like you lack clear goals or direction in life to the point where you aren't sure who you are and who you want to be. This doubt and uncertainty can be a formidable adversary in the pursuit of purpose. It's like navigating a maze without a map which can then lead to feeling frustration and further that sense of aimlessness and feeling adrift.

It could be that you are struggling to find balance with conflicting priorities, you could be struggling to face past failures, or dealing with disappointments that have left a shadow over whether the purpose you thought was your purpose, is really, your purpose, goal or aim. This definitely can come up a lot in weight loss that endless questioning of why the hell am I not sticking to plan, why am I not doing what I said I would I know that working on my health and well-being will benefit me so why do I keep sabotaging?

It's very easy to get lost in the fog of what "should have been" or what "could have been." and for judgment to then set in.

You could be trying to live a life that doesn't align with your core values and beliefs. This misalignment leaving you with a profound sense of disconnection, leaving you yearning still for a life that resonates more with your true self.

Emotionally, self-doubt and the fear of failure could be crippling forces for you as they whisper in your ears, telling you that you are not capable or that pursuing purpose is a futile endeavour.

Your identity is intricately woven into your sense of purpose. You could have lost sight of who you are, your purpose feeling hazy.

So, if any of these struggles resonate with you, stay with me.

Why Bother?

So why bother finding purpose? Why not just continue to tick through life as is. Bouncing from day to day.

Maybe it feels more comfortable and safe, but yet deep down you'll always know that something was missing.

When you discover or work on discovering your true purpose, life becomes more than just going through the motions. It ignites passion within you and gives meaning to every action you take. Suddenly, each day holds the potential for growth and fulfilment.

Finding purpose also allows you to align your values with your actions. Instead of merely existing, you start living intentionally. You become more aware of how each decision impacts not only yourself but also those around you. Purpose empowers you to make choices that contribute positively to your own well-being as well as the greater good.

Additionally, having a clear sense of purpose provides a solid foundation during times of uncertainty or adversity. When faced with challenges or setbacks, knowing why you are doing what you do gives you the strength and resilience to keep going. It helps you stay focused on your long-term goals and overcome any obstacles that come your way.

Having purpose also enhances your personal relationships. When you are aligned with your values and living intentionally, it becomes easier to connect with others who share similar passions and beliefs. This creates deeper connections based on mutual understanding and support, allowing for more meaningful relationships.

As you strive towards fulfilling your purpose, you learn new skills, gain knowledge, and expand your horizons. The pursuit of purpose pushes you out of your comfort zone as you take risks and embrace challenges that lead to personal growth.

In your weight loss journey, connecting with your purpose can help to provide you with clarity and motivation. You can feel more inspired to make healthier choices, stay committed to your goals, and navigate challenges with resilience. Understanding your self more and going deeper into the reasons behind your desire for change can help you cultivate a lasting, positive relationship with your body and overall well-being.

Most importantly you will learn to believe in your own inherent worth. You can start to truly recognise your value, guiding you to your unique purpose or calling in life.

How does any of that sound to you? Let me know.

So Why Purpose Through Weight Loss?

I actually think you can find purpose and meaning in any journey and any undertaking if you look for it but weight loss certainly through the method I teach will take you deeper than any diet you have ever been on. This is about creating lasting deep change not some fad that you are going to give up on.

By going deeper than the diet and becoming more mindful about what you do, how you do it, why you do it etc in food and life you can't help but notice other things you would like to change and work on.

At the heart of the Triple-A-Way™️ Method, is mindful living. It's not just about what you eat; it's about how you approach every aspect of your life. Mindful living will bring you more presence in your life so you aren't just a passenger you want to start taking more control, making choices align more with your true self. As you start to weave mindfulness into the fabric of your existence, you can unlock a richer, more purposeful life.

We then have intuitive style eating which transforms the way you relate to food. It's not a set of rigid rules but a practice of tuning into your body's cues, understanding hunger and fullness, and developing a compassionate relationship with food. You will start to break free from the restrictive chains of traditional diets and cultivate a harmonious connection between your body, mind and soul.

So, how does all this tie into purpose?

Mindful living and intuitive style eating will guide you toward a healthier, purposeful life as they both help you to foster a deep understanding of yourself. As you start to see and recognise the impact your choices have on your well-being, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually too you can't help but start to look for more and as you start to find purpose through the journey you not only change your body but in some cases your entire way of being.

We go looking for more joy, delight in nourishing ourselves, find more peace by cultivating self-love, and work on embracing a lifestyle that aligns with our unique path.

Does this sound all too good to be true?

Maybe it feels like an impossibility right now?

But just imagine if it was not? How would you feel? How much better would life be if you were living it with intent and purpose?

Let's dive into this more and explore how we can make this a reality.

Living A Purposeful Life

It starts with shifting our mindset and realising that we have the power to create the life we desire.

Do you believe change is possible?

I have been looking at some work by Byron Katie recently on sabotage and not believing we can change, as well as being worthy surprise surprise feature in there.

But the truth is we are not stuck in our current circumstances or limited by our past experiences unless we believe we are.

By embracing the belief that you can grow and evolve, you open yourself up to endless possibilities.

This is again what my journey brought me I started to see and find possibilities. I started to believe that every day was an opportunity and one that I did not want to miss by going through it in a haze.

Finding purpose is also in finding joy and fulfilment. I love the concept of being in flow. I am not even going to try and say the name of the books author as I am terrible with names (you have to check the blog for the links - "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi ) or you can also check out the Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. Both I felt had a similar vein to them that finding joy and fulfilment in life is closely tied to discovering our purpose. When we are aligned with our true calling, we experience a sense of flow and contentment that transcends mere happiness. It is as if everything falls into place effortlessly, and we become fully present in each moment. Both talk about how when we engage in activities that align with our core values and strengths, time seems to melt away, and we feel energised rather than depleted.

They both also emphasise the fact purpose isn't actually something external waiting to be discovered; it's something inherent within us. That we have the power to create meaning in our lives by pursuing what brings us joy and utilizing our unique talents and that we can find flow and purpose in all we do if you look for it.

Take emptying the dishwasher, you could think urgh I have to empty the bloody dishwasher again or you could celebrate the fact you have one in the first place that by emptying in you are creating order and contributing to the smooth functioning of your home. Just that small shift of focusing on the satisfaction of completing a task efficiently and creating a clean space for yourself and your loved ones, you can infuse even mundane activities with a sense of purpose.

It really is all about knowing yourself and working on your thoughts and feelings which we do in the membership. Members already have access to a guide on finding their values but there will be another resource landing to accompany this episode about finding your passions and purpose.

Both authors also suggest seeking out new challenges. Stretching ourselves outside of our comfort zones. Whether it's learning a new skill or taking on a project that pushes our limits, the experiences can help you uncover hidden talents or passions you may not have known existed. As a member working on weight loss with me we look to stretch ourselves a little daily with our power-ups but these can be in life or weight loss, we go about super sleuthing and being the detectives of our lives and that journey of self-discovery is what can lead to and create purposes to work on being the best version of ourselves in any given moment, and in doing so we can then also find meaning outside of ourselves as the work we do on ourselves has a ripple effect contributing positively to others' lives. Children, partners, parents, co-workers, friends or people on the street as you start to shine brighter, as you start to nourish yourself, going beyond just physical nourishment; looking after your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being as well so too they will reap the benefits and may even start to undertake this work themselves.

Wrapping Up

Right that's it folks time to wrap things up.

I will leave you to your thoughts about how your journey of self-improvement is not just about your personal growth but how it can make a positive impact on those around you. How it can create purpose as you work on becoming the best version of yourself, so you can then become a source of support, inspiration and motivation for others like never before.

I would encourage you also to seek ways to find flow, to challenge yourself, to find joy and to identify what your values are, your strengths, your true capabilities and to go beyond by pushing yourself gently with love out of your comfort zone regularly.

Until next week. Bye for now.
