Hello Hello Hello and Welcome to Episode Number 48 of the Wellness 4 Women Show

Who Are You Really & Who Do You Want To Be?

Two random things came to my mind when I was writing this episode.

Football chants of Who are ya? Who are ya? Because at the time of writing the World Cup is on and Nikki Grahame in Big Brother one year saying “Who is she!”

These things came to my mind and here they stay.

But why?

Well, because I wanted to talk about something that is often overlooked, but so important when it comes to wellness and weight loss – Awareness.

Awareness of who we are and who we want to be in life.

Awareness of our values, beliefs and desires all contribute to us walking on a path that is aligned with the person we want to be.

How many times have we promised ourselves one thing, and done another? Or felt like what you are doing is not who you want to be?

How many times after something has happened maybe a disagreement, a moment that has not gone to plan have you sat back and wished for a different outcome?

How many times have you stood in the mirror and wondered where your life was going?

A ton of pictures run through your head about what you should look like or how you should be living your life.

It is no wonder we can sometimes feel lost and uncertain.

In this episode of the Wellness 4 Women Show I'm here to offer some insight as to why you want to deep dive into the questions “Who are you?” And “Who do you want to be?” And why this could benefit your life & weight loss.

You Are Unique, You Are You!

It’s so easy in today’s world to get caught up in the rat race and lose sight of what matters.

Constant bombardment from social media, magazines and TV about what we should look like, how we should act, what we should have, want, desire etc. It’s no wonder so many of us can feel like we are falling short at times.

The pressure to be perfect is immense and so a key takeaway is “perfection is unattainable”. If you constantly chase the unattainable you will crash and burn.

So what do we do instead?

I talk about this all the time but the solution is in your uniqueness, your life is unique, your weight loss journey is unique this is why one size fits all diets that don’t look at you as a whole human have limited success.

At the core of everything is YOU!

If you want your life, your weight, your wellness to be different it starts with YOU.

The temptation is to look for outside sources for solutions as that can seem the easiest route.

There is a temptation to blame everything and everyone around us for things not being how we want them to be but everything we are, do and have in life starts with us, it starts and ends with YOU!

This is why knowing who you are, who you want to be and why and having all that juicy awareness is critical. Absolutely critical. If you want lasting change, transformation, success whatever you are working on.

Who Are You Really?

So who are you really?

Do you ever sit back and really think about this question?

It is tempting to go through life on autopilot, doing things because it is what we have always done or following a script that has been set by someone else.

If you are truly happy doing this then I will be honest and say maybe this episode is not for you.

If you are happily accepting your lot. Accepting the status quo. Or maybe can’t be arsed to try then this is perhaps not for you right now or is it….

Here is the thing, following a script, and plodding through life may seem safe and maybe feels ‘easy’ but often it can leave you feeling like life is passing you by and it can if you are not careful be a real drainer of joy and satisfaction.

So I would challenge with love, to say try it…have a little look within.

Use this episode as an opportunity. An opportunity to have a think about who you are right now, who you want to be? And why? And you may be surprised how motivated you will be to get into the how.

So who are you?

How well do you really know yourself?

You may be thinking I know myself really well actually Faye thanks. In which case that is great but I would argue there is always something more to learn. Every day is a school day when you have a growth mindset.

Even if you have done some of this type of work before. Do it again. Keep doing it as it doesn’t always sink in the first time and things can change over time.

Why it's important to get to know yourself now

It is important to know where you are. Who you are right now. You have to know your starting position.

From there you can decide if you like the answers that are coming out.

You might find out something interesting about yourself and your self-view.

Maybe you will find some insight into the roles and relationships you currently have.

Or perhaps you will be able to gain clarity on values you didn’t even know you had.

What this will give you is a way to check in on your alignment.

Do you like what you see?

Do you feel aligned?

Do you feel happy and joyful with where you sit in all of this?

If the answer is yes… that is fabulous but in all honestly unlikely.

Why?

Because we all have things we wish were different from time to time.

Life is not perfect. Neither should it be.

But it doesn’t mean we cannot try to improve it when we find something worthy of our time.

Take weight loss for example.

If you are happy where you are no matter what your shape or size then you are not going to be interested in weight loss which is great.

If you are, however, wanting to occupy a different body shape or size, work on a health goal, toning etc whatever the goal is, this is your life and you are free to work on what you want.

Sometimes I get a bit sad when I am on social media. Seems like no matter what you do someone will say you shouldn’t be doing it.

I am all for body positivity and I love seeing plus-sized women owning their body’s. Some of the comments they get though are vile and bang out of order. Likewise, as someone who is body positive, you may feel you are not allowed to want weight loss but this is also not true. You can in my book want what you want, for whatever reason you want. All I would like to make sure of is that the reasons feel good and you are not doing something because you think you should/have to because of some outside source.

I trust that you as a grown ass woman can decide what you want from your life.

Ok rant over.

So what’s next?

Who do you want to be?

I’ve had my little rant. We have established you are a grown-ass woman who can decide who she wants to be for her reasons.

So this is your next step.

Who do you want to be?

In life coach training we are encouraged to make our clients the heros/heroines of their own stories.

I didn’t really need coaching to tell me that.

I already believed that we have the power to change our own lives. That the answers to change lie within us.

That ownership and taking control of our own life journeys is where success comes from.

Don’t like something find a way to change it.

Want something find a way to get what you want.

As long as you are not hurting anyone in the process just try…what do you have to lose? Nothing. But everything to gain.

There are very few things in the world you cannot strive for, a few exceptions maybe like you can’t change the fact you weren’t born into royalty, but hey that doesn’t mean you cannot try and be something amazing in your own right.

So who do you want to be? Take some time to think about it, write it down, get a vision board going why not.

Let yourself take the time to figure out what path is most aligned.

It is in knowing who you want to be and then showing up as that person ahead of time that moves the needle on your success.

And that is what this podcast is all about. Making sure you are showing up as the person you want to be in order to make your life and weight loss journey easier and more enjoyable.

So get thinking, who do you want to be? And have fun with it. It could open up the most wonderful opportunities.

Why?

A key part of who you want to be comes down to your whys.

Why are you doing this? What is 'YOUR' why? This can make all the difference when it comes to weight loss or any other goal or change.

When we discover our whys. When we understand what drives us and motivate us it gives us a better chance of success.

The more clarity we have on the ‘why’ the better chance we have at succeeding.

So take some time to get clear on your why and the who, what, when and how will be easier to navigate. Because if you show up for yourself as the person you want to be then everything else falls into place.

Your weight loss journey is your journey and you are the one who has the power to make it happen.

Take some time to decide what you want, why you want it and how you want to achieve it. And then show up as that person every day - be yourself but the best version of yourself.

Every decision we make in our lives should be done with a sense of awareness. We should take the time to ask ourselves if this decision, action or thought is true to who we want to be and if it will serve our higher purpose.

The more aware we are of our decisions, thoughts, words and actions the better chance we have at living authentically and in alignment. If we are being authentic and in alignment, it is easier to achieve the goals we set out to achieve. This includes weight loss!

So take some time, get clear on who you want to be and how you want to show up for yourself and others. Live with awareness and make sure everything is a true reflection of who you want to be. And then go live your best life!

Round up

In order to have a successful weight loss journey, it is important to be clear on who you want to be and what drives you. Knowing your why will give you the motivation you need to keep going when things get tough. Be authentic and in alignment with yourself, and everything else will fall into place.
