It can be hard to juggle all the different aspects of your life, especially if you feel like you're not doing any one of them the justice they deserve.

Like most people you likely will say you don't have time for this or that, but is that really true? Or are you just not making time for the things that are important to you?

If you are also trying to work on weight loss and your overall well-being this can seem nigh impossible to achieve.

In the Membership, I talk about the metaphorical life jigsaw. Your life is made up of lots of little pieces just like a jigsaw. So when it comes to life balance, you've got your family, friends, work, health & fitness, fun & relaxation, personal development & growth. And they all need to fit together somehow for you to have a happy well-rounded life.

The problem for weight loss is that most women try and fix their weight loss/well-being by making changes in just one area of their life (usually their diet or exercise regime) and wonder why it doesn't work long term. Just like you can't put a round peg in a square hole, you can't lose weight or get fit by making changes in just one area of your life. You need to look at the whole picture.

I'm sure you've all experienced this before. You go on a diet and you're doing really well, you're eating all the right foods, exercising regularly and are seeing results. But then something happens, life gets in the way, work gets busy, the kids are home from school sick, you have to go away for a weekend and before you know it you've fallen off the wagon.

The reason this happens is that you've only been focusing on your diet, you haven't factored in life and so when something happens in one of those other areas it throws everything off balance and you can end up back at square one if you are not careful.

It can also seem hard to strike a balance in life. On one hand, you may want to be productive and achieve your goals; on the other, you don’t want to overwork yourself and end up stressed out and unhappy.

So how do you achieve balance in your life?

Well, we are going to use the 3 A's AWARENESS, ACTION, and ACCOUNTABILITY the guiding principles for any Triple-A Woman.

Define what a well-balanced life means to you

First up, I would encourage you to really define what a well-balanced life means to you.

Like with all things life and weight loss you will have been building beliefs around balance for years. Do you have a picture in your head of what balance looks like, but is that really what balance looks like for you, or is it just what you think it should look like?

Sometimes it can be more like a wish list especially when the poop is hitting the fan we start wishing things were different.

For example, I used to believe that in order to have a well-balanced life I had to have a successful career, be married with kids, and have a nice house. And while there is nothing wrong with any of those things, that isn't what balance looks like for me now.

Right now a well-balanced life for me would be one where I have time for all the things that are important to me. So, my daughter, my business, my health & fitness, my family & friends, and my personal development.

What are all the things that are important to you for your balance?

A tool that can help you with this is the "wheel of life". It is a way for you to check in with where you are currently at and pictorially can show you how balanced things are.

Grab a FREE copy from the Membership today HERE.  All I ask in return is you let me know how you get on with it.

Those who take swift, and decisive action in life tend to be the ones who achieve the most in life so don't sit on it when you get it OK :)

So next up. You are going to want to step into action. The guide I will send you will help you with this also.

Set realistic goals and make a plan to achieve them

When you have a lot on your plate, it’s important to take a step back and figure out what’s most important. What are your top priorities? Once you know what they are, you can focus your energy on achieving them.

Again, the wheel of life will help you with this as it will give you an idea of where you are currently in all areas. You can then set some process goals depending on what you want to work on or the one/ones you feel need the most attention. You might want to watch the free training I did on goal setting and stepping into action which are available in the  Wellness4Women3a Facebook Group.

For example, if your health is not where you want it to be, your goal could be to park further away in the car park, go for a small walk daily, try to level up your breakfast by playing about quantity or quality.

The key is to make your plans super doable so you can gather momentum.

You may also want to build in activities that help you relax and recharge, so you don’t get too stressed out. Choose activities that you enjoy and that make you feel good. When you take care of yourself, it’s easier to manage stress and have the energy to achieve your other goals.

Have patience, ask for help, be accountable.

I think sometimes we think that balance should just happen effortlessly and that if it is not effortless we are doing it wrong.

This is just the old "perfection dragon" coming to visit.

Even when trying to create the balance you are likely to end up 'shoulding' all over yourself.

We were talking about this in the Membership recently. Where we were talking about the fact there is a temptation to strive for 'the' perfect or idyllic morning routine. You know where you wake up full of the joys of spring, meditate, journal, conduct self-care, do yoga and go happily into your day. Now, these are all great practices and if this brings you joy and balance and you can fit these into your life with ease or with slight adjustments that is great but sometimes trying to find balance can bring you extra pressure and it is recognising that and deciding where you want to go from there.

Maybe you can't do what you used to as your circumstances have changed, like a new job, new baby, new pet. Maybe you could but energy is really low as it is winter and cold. There are a few of things that can crop up to sabotage you finding your balance.

This is why life coaching and self-coaching is so phenomenal as it can help you pick through all of this. Being accountable, having someone to help you see what is going on that you can't see, helping you make realistic plans and supporting your journey, and helping you stay accountable.

It is OK to need help and to ask for help sometimes too. This is a whole topic in itself but I know I have been guilty in the past of not asking for help whether that was because I didn't want to seem weak, I was people please, I thought I 'should' be able to do it all. So find ways to reach out when you need to so you can work on getting the balance you need.
